In the previous post about Cinnamon Lodge Hotel , which is one of the best hotels in Habarana I talked about the bird and butterfly trail withing the Hotel lands. Below are some photos taken while going on the trail. Early morning is the best time to go on the trail :)

Cinnamon Lodge Hotel in Habarana

Situated about 4-5 hour drive from Colomb , Cinnamon Lodge is perfect for wild life lovers and also for people who wants to visit the historic places in the cultural triangle. Spread across 27 acres there is plenty of room to move about and with all the trees ,the lakes and the wild life withing and around the hotel gives you a feeling of harmony with the nature.

The hotel is surrounded by three nature reserves ( Minneriya , Ritigala , Kaudulla ) and the hotel can arrange for safari rides to to these reserves. Minneriya reserve is specially famous for its huge population of elephants. If going on Safari is not your thing , then you can choose to go on a bullock cart on the Hiriwadune track or bird and

butterfly trail in the hotel. In short if you are interested in wild life then Cinnamon Lodge is definitely one of the best places to be.

If you are more interested in visiting historical places then Cinnamon Lodge is perfect for that too. It is conveniently located in the cultural triangle and the Sigiriya Rock Fortress is just a few minutes drive away. Old Capitals of Sri Lanka like Dambulla , Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura is also around an hours drive so if you are looking to visit historical places Cinnamon Lodge is perfect for that too. There are few hotels in Habarana , but mostly Habarana is famous for lodges inside and near the Habarana national park and also for Safari rides. That being said there are plenty of good hotels around Habarana so you can enjoy your visit.

Cinnamon Lodge Hotel
By far the most luxurious hotel In Habarana. A large natural garden around 25 acres makes it an ideal place to relax. It it conveniently located in the cultural triangle as well so many historical places can be reached easily.

Chaya Village Hotel
Although not as luxurious as the Cinnamon Lodge this is another great hotel in Habarana. This is also conveniently located in the cultural triangle so you want have much trouble visiting all the historical places located near by.

The Village Hotel
Another great hotel in Habarana is The Village hotel. It mainly consists of cottage style rooms and is located near the Minneriya sanctuary so very convenient location for safari lovers.

Habarana Rest House
Managed by the Ceylon Hotel corporation this is one of the hotels in Habarana that is relatively cheap but offers a good service. If your are low on budget this place is worth a try.

Colombo is the business hub in Sri Lanka and therefore many five star hotels are located in Colombo. Speaking of five star hotels in Colombo few come to mind but by no means they are the only hotels in Colombo. There are many other hotels that provide you with great facilities for the fraction of the cost. Lets look at some of the hotels that are in Colombo. Listed below are some of the best hotels in the Colombo area.

Hilton Hotel Colombo

One of the five star hotels in the city of Colombo this is one of the favorites among tourists because of its convenient location. Its around 45 minutes drive from the Bandaranayaka International Airport and most of the shopping malls are located near it. The restaurant serves Sri Lankan , Indian , Chinese and Western cuisines and its equiped with well stuffed bar as well. Also there are halls available which can accomodate around 700-1000 guests for conferences and weddings. One of the favorite hotels among travelling busineeman because of all the facilities provided.

Ceylon Continental Hotel

Another conveniently located hotel in Colombo this is also around 45 minutes drive from the Bandaranayaka International Airport and located close to most of the shopping malls in Colombo city. Has facilities to hold conferences and other functions of that sort. Cafe Emarald provides delicious food and there is a separate menu for children as well. Many other services like site seeing services are arranged by the hotel.
